WMVP071 - Polar Rapid by 1995

Artist: 1995
Track: Polar Rapid
Director: Michael Humphrey

This weeks video is a great example of a really simple, cheap idea creating an effective visual accompaniment to the song. In fact you might almost call it blindingly simple.

In the video for New Zealand band 1995's song, director Michael Humphrey simply gets the band and various friends and family to sit in front of the camera and react to a piece of film. The great thing is we are never shown what they are reacting to, or even if they're reacting to the same piece of film.

See if you can spot the moment in the introduction when my dog Charlie decided to make a noise. Given what I was talking about at the time, he couldn't have timed it better.

A nice video that really makes you think about the non-verbal cues everyone projects to the outside world.

WMVP070 - Neon For You by My First Earthquake

Artist: My First Earthquake
Track: Neon For You
Director: Brad Robertson

You may remember San Francisco band My First Earthquake from their previous appearance on WMVP. The video for 'Cool In The Cool Way' was one of my top 10 videos of 2009.

The band claim that this promo was made by 'deranged fan' Brad Robertson, but a careful examination of the previous video shows this not to be the case.

This video for the track 'Neon For You' is quite simply an enormous amount of fun and no matter how many times I see it, it still raises a smile.
